Seneca Nation,

Leadership isn't just a trait— it's a calling, a responsibility, and a journey. At Calvert Catholic Schools, leadership isn't something students learn about; it's something they live, breathe, and embody from the moment they walk through our doors, beginning their journey as a Calvert Seneca. Our goal is to lead our communities to have a personal relationship with God. Leadership is to serve others above themselves.

Sometimes, we all ask, what is the actual quality of being a leader? What does it take to be a leading force? Authentic leadership is more than authority or influence. It is the ability to guide with integrity, serve humbly, and inspire others toward excellence. Leaders stand firm in their beliefs, lead by example, and are grounded in their faith.

The next question is how we take the definition of leadership and install it in our over 500 students. We cultivate leadership by equipping students with the skills, experiences, and values needed to lead with confidence. Our faculty and staff encourage responsibility and personal growth, ensuring our students are ready to take the next step to change the world in their own unique way.

  • Senior Project (12th Grade): A capstone experience where students are expected to demonstrate service to another. This service is focused on a passion for the specific student exemplifying leadership above themselves, focused on serving others.

  • Internship Program (Primarily Grades 11 & 12): We provide valuable internship opportunities within the high school building, including roles such as marketing intern, office intern, athletic administration intern, and academic tutor intern. These hands-on experiences allow students to develop real-world skills, gain professional exposure, and contribute meaningfully to the school community.

  • Future City Competition (Academy & High School’s Participants): An interdisciplinary project based on “real-world” challenges and/or opportunities for teams of students to create solutions. This experience develops critical thinking traits, and problem solving skills through authentic STEAM activities.

  • Classroom Development & Life Skills Badging Program (Grades 6-9): Our students partake in the badging program to experience fundamental life skills such as cooking, laundry, job shadowing, interview preparation, career exploration, and time management, preparing them to lead in all aspects of life.

  • Elementary Leaders (Grades K - 5): The faculty at our elementary campus work with the youngest of learners to develop leadership through participation in the congregation at mass, the 5th graders lead the rosary twice weekly, gardening that leads to farm to “cafeteria” healthy eating, cleaning the cafeteria after lunch sessions, and many more. In addition, 4th and 5th grade lead the quarterly Little Kingdom Chronicle led by Mrs. Ann Hart. We develop our students inside and outside of the traditional classroom.

Strong male and female leaders walk our halls every day. They lead in the classroom, on the field, in service projects, and within our faith community. While nobody is a perfect leader, our students, faculty, and staff continuously work together to develop humility in everything they do.

However, learning leadership qualities doesn't stop at graduation. Our alumni are impacting their communities, workplaces, and beyond as leaders. Our leaders are recognized in all areas: entrepreneurs, Priests, doctors, teachers, farmers, and more. Their journeys reflect the foundation built at Calvert—one rooted in faith, character, and purpose.

If you want your child to be a leader of tomorrow—a person of influence, grounded in faith and prepared to make a difference—we invite you to our upcoming Seneca Showcases.
