Dr. Marinis Monthly Memo - February 2023

Greetings Seneca Nation,

As I reflect on the beginning of February, it is astounding how quickly an academic year moves. We are progressing through the spring semester and before long the seasons will be changing. It is so refreshing to have the opportunity to interact with young learners and mentor high school students as they navigate future plans and considerations. We recently completed Catholic Schools Week (CSW), which is a time we are grateful for the gift of catholic education, appreciative of our community, thankful for our parents who have made this commitment, and indebted to our faculty and staff who welcome the opportunity to serve our families. I personally was blessed to spend additional time at the elementary campus and the young learners kept me on my toes. There were indoor field day activities, spirit day, and afternoon snacks and we welcomed a number of alumni priests back to celebrate mass with our Calvert community.

I am so grateful to share that we now attend weekly mass as a Calvert community at either St. Joseph or St. Mary church. This commitment has enhanced our spiritual development and provided opportunities for our students of all ages to interact and create a greater sense of community.

We continue to build upon our academic excellence by making plans to deliver over 12 college courses at the high school campus, increase advanced placement (AP) offerings, and add internship opportunities for our students. We will become focused on developing self-directed learners through our Skills for Life program, teaching accountability, self-management, and other critical skills infused within our curriculum.

We have been blessed with generous support and belief in our school. We have worked hard to remove barriers of entry and would encourage anyone who wants a different by-design education to visit us. Our doors are open to welcome you in and share the impacts we are making for each of our students. To learn more please contact Rachel Griffith, rgriffith@calvertcatholic.org.

God Bless and Go Blue,

Dr. Jeremy Marinis
